Kate Scott (Treasurer)
I grew up in the Reading area and met my husband-to-be, Paul, at Reading Youth Orchestra when we were teenagers (he plays the cello; I play violin and piano). He helped me to understand that I could have a personal relationship with Jesus, and I became a Christian at the age of 17 and was baptised.
After I completed a maths degree at Warwick University, Paul and I were married. We moved to Calcot in 1996 and became members of Kennet Valley Free Church soon after. Since then, I have enjoyed playing in the music group, helping out at Coffee Club when it first started, and supporting Christianity Explored courses. I was appointed as treasurer in July 2013.
Paul and I now have two boys, Thomas and William. I am currently a full-time mum, having previously worked for Thames Water (coinciding with Graham Challand at one point!) and Reading University. I play violin in Reading Symphony Orchestra and enjoy swimming and reading the Bible.
One of my favourite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 (Good News Translation): "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and He will show you the right way." Paul wrote this verse in my first Bible when I became a Christian and it continues to bless me as I seek to follow the Lord.
